This all started one cloudy evening. Me and my sister, Karah, were walking home from school one day. We still had a ways to go, and it started to get dark. The streetlights weren't coming on, which was strange, because they usually come on at around 7, and it was already 7:30. We heard what sounded like footsteps behind us, and I quickly turned, but there was nobody there.

I looked at my surroundings, and then at Karah. We hurried home, and by that time it was already dark. Our parents weren't home yet, which worried us because they were usually home before us. I twisted the doorknob to find that it was unlocked. We heard a sound emanating from the room furthest away from the front door. I started shaking a bit, nothing like this had ever happened before. We both decided to ignore what was going on and call our parents.

I picked up the phone and dialed our mothers number. It went straight to voicemail. Called our dad. Straight to voicemail. I called a few more times and eventually gave up. The sound that came from our parents bedroom was more distinct now, and it sounded like growling, It slowly got louder, so we went over to the room and tried to open the door, but it was locked. Karah quickly went over to the cabinet and found the spare key.

She tossed it to me and I opened the door to find... nothing. I searched the room, and when I looked under the side of the bed that was facing the closet, I heard something growl loudly. I jumped and Karah screamed.

I looked at the closet and saw a shadow, a silhouette of a tall, skinny figure. I froze, paralyzed with fear. I couldn't take my eyes off the silhouette. And then something unthinkable happened. The closet door opened.  I still couldn't move, and when I looked where Karah was, she was gone.

I was alone with this... beast. It emerged from the closet. It had pale skin, almost white, and small, pitch black eyes. It was about 6 feet tall. It had bony, skinny limbs and a large head. I unfroze from my paralyzed state and ran. I ran as far as I could away from the house and to one of my friends houses, which was only a couple of houses down.

I knocked frantically on the door, and to my surprise, Karah answered. When I went into the house, I asked her why she took off without me. She said that she called and yelled my name dozens of times, but I wasn't answering. To this day I have dreams about that incident. I can never get the questions off my mind. What was that thing? Where did it come from? If I had stayed, what would it've done to me?
