Let me start by this. I’m a 22 year old woman  who lives in an apartment complex. I won’t say where for security reasons. This happened not to long ago when I was taking a walk.

It was a cloudy day when I decided to take a walk. Now, not that many people come outside their houses. My mother has taught me to be aware of my surroundings because of an event that happened to her many years ago.

I was walking almost silently around my apartment complex when I saw this middle aged man stepping out of his car. I think he was about the same height about me. I didn’t think much about him so I just went on my merry way.

It was about 15 minutes later when I began to hear footsteps behind me. Instinctively, I turned my head around only to see the same man who is seen getting out his car. I wasn’t the type to panic easily so all o did was keep walking the same pace as I was. But the footsteps didn’t stop.

I was already pissed off at the man for following me. Why was he following me? What did he want from me? What am I doing wrong?

Thinking that this man wouldn’t leave me alone, I began to pick up the pace. Low and behold, the man’s pace picked up the pace along with me. I didn’t have anything on me but my phone at the time. I took out my phone from out my pocket and opened the phone app just in case this stalker began to do anything suspicious.

“Why are you running away from me?” The man croaked.

Being the short-tempered female I was I shouted back, “Why won’t you stop following me!?” Then I began to run.

The man began to give chase. I consider myself a fast runner, but this man...he was quicker. He was just on my tail in the matter of seconds.

I made a mad dash across the side road. Now panic was just beginning to set in. The anxiety was quickly growing as I realized that I was running out of breath.

I couldn’t let this stalker man get to me. I needed to get back home quickly. I could not imagine him getting his dirty hands on me.

As I began to slow down, I turn to face my chaser. I gave him a nasty glare as he skidded to a stop only inches from my face. He smiled an evil smile.

  “Now,” he said.

His smelly breath filled my nostrils. Grimacing, I took a step back. Noticing what I was doing, the man took a step closer.  Great, I thought. What am I gonna do now?

I look around for any space to escape from. Then my eyes scan the stalker’s body, and my mind clicked with an idea.

  He didn’t see it coming.

I flung my leg into his private area and made a b-line past him. I heard him groan in pain as I tried to put more and more distance between us. He wasn’t giving chase again, he was still clutching where I kicked him.

Yanking my keys out my pocket, I dashed for the door to my apartment and rushed inside. I only took one last glance back at the place...the man was nowhere to be seen.

For anyone who hears this, please take this story as a note. Be wary of your surroundings. Because you will never know when you will be next.
